Dominant Barca cruise past Plzen in Champions League

FC Barcelona kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign with a convincing 5-1 victory over Czech champions Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday at the Camp Nou.

Ousmane Dembele fired Barca ahead inside the first 10 minutes and Robert Lewandowski doubled the lead just before the break.

Jan Sykora pulled one back for Plzen with a fine effort after the restart, but Barca quickly restored their two-goal advantage through Franck Kessie.

Lewandowski grabbed his second of the night with a close-range finish before Ferran Torres completed the rout in the final minute.

Bayern Munich win big in Champions League opener

Bayern Munich also made a winning start to their Champions League campaign, thrashing Inter Milan 2-0 at the San Siro.

Leroy Sane gave Bayern the lead in the 25th minute with a stunning long-range strike.

Eric Choupo-Moting doubled the advantage just after the hour mark to secure the victory for the German champions.

Manchester City held to draw by RB Leipzig

Manchester City were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by RB Leipzig in their Champions League opener at the Red Bull Arena.

Riyad Mahrez gave City the lead in the 27th minute with a well-taken penalty.

But Leipzig equalized just before the break through Andre Silva's fine finish.

Both teams had chances to win the game in the second half, but neither could find a winning goal.

Ajax ease past Rangers in Champions League

Ajax eased to a 4-0 victory over Rangers in their Champions League opener at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Edson Alvarez gave Ajax the lead in the 17th minute with a header from a corner.

Mohammed Kudus doubled the lead just before the half-hour mark with a fine individual effort.

Steven Berghuis made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute with a well-taken free-kick.

Rangers had no answer to Ajax's dominance and Antony completed the rout in the 80th minute with a close-range finish.
