The Denver Nuggets have swept the Los Angeles Lakers out of the 2023 Western Conference finals, extending their playoff dominance over their rivals.
In a thrilling Game 3 matchup, the Nuggets held off a dominant performance from LeBron James, who finished with 30 points. Despite James' efforts, the Nuggets refused to be denied, securing a 128-116 victory and advancing to the NBA Finals.
The Nuggets entered the contest with a perfect 6-0 record at home during the postseason, while the Lakers had stolen road wins in Game 1 of each of their previous two series.
However, Denver showed their resilience, weathering an early Lakers surge and taking control of the game in the second half. Nikola Jokic led the charge for the Nuggets with 28 points, 18 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Jamal Murray added 25 points.
The Nuggets' victory marks the first time they have swept the Lakers in the playoffs since 1985. It also extends their playoff dominance in recent years, as they have now knocked the Lakers out of the postseason in three of the last four seasons.
The Nuggets will now face either the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. Game 1 of the Finals is set for June 1st.
